Market Metrics launches “Quarterly Canadian Economic Update”

November 13, 2008 — Market Metrics today announced the launch of its new Quarterly Canadian Economic Update, a time-saving quick reference that gathers together in one spot economic assumptions to help clients with their 2009 planning, forecasting and budgeting activities.

Now available on the consultancy’s web site, the Quarterly Canadian Economic Update draws upon a variety of sources to present our view of the 2009 Canadian economic outlook as well as detailing a number of economic parameters.

Included in the initial release are historical GDP growth, exchange rate, interest rate, inflation, unemployment and IT salaries for the past two years and the current year to date, as well as estimates for the coming year. This information will be updated on a quarterly basis.

Says Greg Graham of Market Metrics, “Gathering together this information is a time-consuming process and we usually update our planning assumptions at least quarterly, especially when the economy is in a period of rapid change like it is now. We decided to offer this information to our clients and prospective clients for their convenience. This should save sales and marketing managers time as they prepare or update their sales forecasts for 2009, especially in small businesses where staff don’t have a lot of time to dig out Canadian data and rely on the news. News reports — like today’s reports about the recent OECD forecast — often feature the U.S. point of view without much Canadian context.”
